Assam Rifles, Mizoram Police arrest three, seize ammunition near Bangladesh border

On Monday, an official from the Assam Rifles confirmed that three individuals were apprehended and a significant quantity of ammunition was recovered in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district, located near the border with Bangladesh.

Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of Kuki-Chin National Army (KCNA) members, an insurgent group active in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), crossing the border with ammunition, the security forces launched an operation that resulted in the successful seizure of the weapons.

According to a report, the individuals taken into custody have been identified as Joseph Lalnuntluang (48), Vanrothawna (58), and Dabibadah (75), all residents of Parva village in Lawngtlai district.

The arrested trio, believed to be supporters of the Kuki-Chin National Army (KCNA), had purported plans to transfer the recovered ammunition to KCNA operatives at either Hmambu or Bultlang village within the district.
