Nagaland women athletes to represent India at World Sepaktakraw Championship in Thailand

Six women athletes from Nagaland have been selected to represent India at the esteemed World Sepaktakraw Championship – The 36th Kings Cup, set to take place in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand.

The event is considered one of the most prestigious international competitions in Sepaktakraw, with top national teams vying for the title.

Sezovelu Dozo,  Rukuvinu Tsukru, Menenu Tsukru,  Seyiekhrieno Tepa,  Jwensinle Kesen, and Akumtila Ao will be participating from the Indian team, led by chief coach Hemraj, includes four girls from the State Sports Academy Dimapur and two from SSB Assam.

The tournament is dedicated to the King of Thailand, and a team consists of three Regu. To win, a team must have the majority of two Regu victories out of the three. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Sports Authority of India have sanctioned a 45-day training camp in Thailand to prepare for the upcoming 19th Asian Games in China 2023.

The announcement was made by Abu Metha, advisor to the Chief Minister and Associate Vice President of Athletics Federation of India.

It’s the most prestigious international event in Sepaktakraw. We are also grateful to Sepaktakraw Federation of India for your constant support and guidance. Best wishes to all of them.
