Smuggling Attempt Foiled, BSF Seizes Clothing Worth 22 Lakhs in Meghalaya

The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya has seized a consignment of clothing items worth 22 lakhs on 28th Jan 2023 from the bordering area of East Khasi Hills. The consignment was meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh and was intercepted by the troops of 04 Bn BSF in the village of Pyrdwah.

The driver of the vehicle fled towards the forest area when signaled to stop by the BSF, leaving the vehicle in the middle of the road. The seized items and vehicle have been handed over to Customs Pynursla for further action.

This seizure adds to the efforts of the BSF in Meghalaya who have been actively monitoring the international border to prevent illegal activities. In 2022, the BSF in Meghalaya seized clothing items worth over Rs 1.2 crores along the International border.
