BSF apprehends 13 Bangladeshis, 3 Indians for illegal immigration in Meghalaya

Troops of 193 Bn of the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an illegal immigration attempt in Meghalaya on May 6, 2023. Acting on specific tip-off, 13 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended, who entered India illegally through the international border of East Khasi Hills. 

In the process, the BSF also nabbed 3 Indian nationals who are residents of West Garo Hills from the spot who were facilitating illegal cross border movement of Bangladeshis to India.

BSF got hold of them when Bangladeshi nationals came out of the jungle area close to the international border and were boarding a Tata Sumo vehicle which was already parked there.

The apprehended Bangladeshi national revealed that they entered India with intention to further travel to Kashmir to earn a livelihood through labour or other menial work.

All apprehended persons were handed over to PS Dangar East Khasi Hills for further action.
