President Murmu set for inaugural visit to Meghalaya from January 15

President Droupadi Murmu is set to undertake a crucial visit to Meghalaya and Assam from January 15 to 17, as announced in an official statement by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday. The distinguished visit marks President Murmu’s first official trip to Meghalaya since assuming the esteemed office of the president.

The schedule is filled with significant events, underscoring her dedication to advancing progress and connectivity in the region; starting with the inauguration of the Meghalaya Games at P A Sangma Stadium in Tura on Monday, followed by her address to self-help groups at Baljek Airport, Tura on January 16. In addition, she will virtually lay the foundation stone for the new Integrated Administration Complex, underscoring her vision for efficient governance.

The President is also scheduled to speak at a gathering in Mawphlang, where she will remotely inaugurate the improved Rongjeng Mangsang Adokgre Road and Mairang Ranigodown Azra Road. Additionally, she will lay the groundwork for the Shillong Peak Ropeway and initiate the foundation-laying ceremonies for tourist accommodations in Kongthong, Mawlyngot, and Kudengrim villages.

In the evening, a civic reception at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, hosted by the Meghalaya government in her honour, will provide an opportunity for interactions and acknowledgments.

The final leg of President Murmu’s visit will take her to Assam on January 17, where she will participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Karbi Youth Festival at Taralangso, Diphu.
