In a successful joint operation with a sister agency, the troops of 04 Bn BSF Meghalaya apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals near Dawki bridge in the bordering area of West Jaintia Hills on 5th April 2023. The detainees were identified as Rahul Amin, a Bangladeshi tout, aged 37 years, and Md Abdul Kasim, a resident of district-Sunamganj, aged 36 years. Acting on a specific tip-off, an FIR was lodged, and the individuals were handed over to the local police station for further legal action.

It was revealed during the investigation that both individuals had entered India illegally, intending to reside on the mainland and facilitate the illegal crossing of Bangladeshi nationals into India. The apprehended Bangladeshi national, Rahul Amin, divulged that he was en route to Guwahati to receive three Bangladeshi nationals travelling from Jammu & Kashmir by train. Based on this information, the BSF shared it with GRP Guwahati, and all three Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended at Guwahati Railway Station.

The successful operation by the BSF Meghalaya reflects its unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s borders and upholding the rule of law. The apprehension of these illegal migrants is a significant achievement in maintaining the integrity of the nation’s border security.
