Rajnath Singh Launches ‘Soul of Steel’ Alpine Challenge to Promote Tourism in Border Areas on Armed Forces Veterans’ Day

Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister, highlighted the need to take care of the well-being and satisfaction of veterans on the occasion of the seventh Armed Forces Veterans’ Day celebrations. He acknowledged the great contributions of the country’s brave soldiers in shaping India’s image as a powerful and respected nation and emphasized the importance of honoring their sacrifices by ensuring their well-being.

Armed Forces Veterans’ Day is celebrated on January 14th every year to commemorate the veterans of the country. This day marks the formal retirement of the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, Field Marshal KM Cariappa, who led Indian forces to victory in the 1947 war.

The day has been celebrated since 2017 to honor the heroes who served the nation and to strengthen the bond between retired and serving soldiers and the nation. Rajnath Singh, also launched an initiative called “Soul of Steel” Alpine Challenge to promote tourism in border areas. He also launched a website for volunteers to sign up for various adventure activities under this joint initiative of the Indian Army and CLAW Global, a veterans’ organization. Additionally, Rajnath Singh flagged off a 460-km car rally called “Road to the End” as part of a joint expedition by the Indian Army and CLAW. The rally will reach its destination in the Garhwal Himalayas near Niti Village in Chamoli district in the next three days.
