Vice President to visit Assam and Manipur today

The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, is set to visit Assam and Manipur on a one-day tour today, on May 3, 2023. According to an official release, he will be the chief guest at the 21st convocation ceremony of Dibrugarh University in Dibrugarh, Assam, where he will deliver the convocation address.

The Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Labour and Employment, Rameswar Teli, and Minister of Education, Government of Assam, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, will also attend the ceremony.

Later in the day, Dhankhar will visit Dhanamanjuri University in Imphal, Manipur, where he will participate in an interaction programme with the students and faculty of the university. The programme will provide a platform for young minds to exchange ideas and have valuable discussions.

Furthermore, the Vice President will also participate in an interaction programme with the faculties/scientists from various central institutions across the country at Manipur University in Imphal.

Anusuiya Uikey, Governor of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur and Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education will attend both the events. Th. Basanta Singh, Education Minister, Government of Manipur will also be present at the programme in Dhanamanjuri University.
