Mizoram hit by landslides as continuous rainfall wreaks havoc on key highway connection

Officials stated on Friday that a colossal landslide was set off by torrential rain on National Highway-6, the crucial link connecting Mizoram to the rest of the country. Notably, NH-6 or NH-306 serves as Mizoram’s vital lifeline, connecting the northeastern state with Assam’s Silchar and the rest of the nation.

No casualties have been reported thus far, and authorities are engaged in clearing the debris and restoring the affected section of the national highway, according to official reports. Continuous rainfall over the past few days has induced landslides in various regions of the state.

As per reports, the Aizawl district administration has advised individuals to utilize an alternate route towards Lengpui airport due to the uncleared debris from the landslide on NH-6.
