Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong informed that the state government had convened a meeting with all concerned departments. At the meeting, the government was told that the state capital was more or less ready to welcome the G20 summit.

It is a fact that traffic jam is a daily affair for the people in Shillong, and it will be a mammoth task for the police personnel, especially the Shillong Traffic Police, to carry out their duties from 15 to 17 April to facilitate the smooth travel of more than 1200 delegates in an around the city.

The deputy chief minister informed that instruction has been given to the concerned department, including the deputy commissioner, the police personnel and the Superintendent of Police (SP) in charge of Traffic, to work out all the details as to which roads these VVIPs will come in and from which roads, should they again go back.

“We would like to ensure that law and order are okay and the situation in the city is good, and the state government want to assure those VVIPs who will be reaching Shillong that they will be happy as this G20 meeting will be a pride for the state of Meghalaya,” said the deputy chief minister.
