Pro-Khalistan leader, Amritpal Singh, currently held in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail, was reportedly interrogated by Intelligence Bureau (IB) officers on Tuesday.

Sources reveal that the Waris Punjab De (WPD) chief has been isolated from other members of the outfit, including his close aide Papalpreet Singh. Prior to his arrival on Sunday, nine associates of Amritpal were also detained at Dibrugarh Central Jail. An anonymous source in the jail disclosed that IB officers conducted the interrogation on Tuesday morning. According to reports, Assam police is tight-lipped on the development

Prasant Kumar Bhuyan, Inspector General (Law and Order) of the Assam Police, said that all central investigation agencies, including IB and RAW, have officers in the state, indicating that the national capital’s presence isn’t always necessary to interrogate an inmate.

“All central investigation agencies, including IB and RAW, have officers posted in the state. Hence, it is not necessary that somebody from the national capital has to come to interrogate an inmate.”, the Inspector General said.
