Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, announced a significant relief initiative on Wednesday, stating, “A total of Rs 6.138 crore has been released to DCs, which will be utilised for providing assistance to 61,387 persons presently living in relief camps in the state.”

The financial aid, amounting to Rs 1000 per individual, has already been disbursed to those residing in the relief camps as of October 24, 2023, through the Deputy Commissioners (DCs).

Chief Minister Singh highlighted the importance of these disbursements, explaining that they are intended to provide the displaced people with support to purchase clothing and personal belongings, particularly as winter approaches in the state.

Moreover, Singh shared the positive news that “98.28% of the students staying at the relief camps have been admitted back to the nearest feasible schools.” He underlined the proactive approach taken by the Department of Education-School, which has appointed Nodal Officers for each relief camp and established a control room to collect daily data on the requirements of displaced students.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Singh expressed his satisfaction with the progress, stating, “Pleased to learn that 98.28% of the students staying at the relief camps have been admitted back to the nearest feasible schools.”

Singh reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing assistance to everyone affected, regardless of their community affiliation, stating, “The state government will continue to provide assistance to everyone affected irrespective of the communities they belong to.”
